At the time, this news prompted Senator Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith to write a letter to GSA stating “If this building is abruptly closed, it will cause immediate harm to Minnesota veterans and military readiness”. It’s now being used as an ICE detention and enforcement facility. Yesterday, US Representatives Ilhan Omar, Jackie Craig and Kelly Morrison visited the facility only to be asked to leave and blocked from access shortly after arriving.
