New fencing dropped in the North Loop on N 5th Ave and I-94. It's too bad, was a fun spot to watch trains. Could see the Light Rail, Northstar Line and freight trains from under this bridge.

The modern pavilion at Bde Maka Ska glows softly under evening light, its signage prominently honoring the lake’s Dakota name — “Bdé Óta Othúŋwe,” meaning “Many Village Place.” This site, located in southwest Minneapolis, holds deep historical and cultural significance as part of Dakota homeland, long before it was renamed “Lake Calhoun” in the 19th century. After years of advocacy by Indigenous groups and community leaders, the lake officially reclaimed its Dakota name in 2018, marking a shift toward recognizing Minnesota’s original peoples and languages. The illuminated pavilion stands today as both a gathering space and a statement of cultural restoration, blending modern urban design with respect for ancestral land and history.
The American and Minnesota state flags ripple above the Foshay Tower in downtown Minneapolis, silhouetted against the glass and steel geometry of nearby modern office buildings. Completed in 1929, the Foshay Tower was the city’s first skyscraper and remained its tallest structure for over three decades. Modeled after the Washington Monument, it symbolized both the ambition and excess of the late Jazz Age. Today, the tower stands as a protected landmark, housing a hotel and museum that preserve its Art Deco legacy. The juxtaposition of flags and architecture here reflects Minnesota’s blend of historic pride and urban evolution — a monument to both civic identity and architectural endurance.

The Midtown Greenway runs beneath a series of bridges in south Minneapolis, shown here during evening hours with red tail lights from passing cyclists marking the trail’s path. Originally a railroad corridor built in the early 20th century, the Greenway was converted into a protected urban bike and pedestrian route in the early 2000s. Flanked by apartments, offices, and green spaces, it serves as a major east–west transportation corridor connecting Uptown to the Mississippi River while supporting Minneapolis’s commitment to sustainable transit.
