“Welcome to George Floyd Square” on the former Speedway Gas sign at 38th and Chicago Ave. The area has been a protest zone since the May 25th, 2020 murder of George Floyd by the Minneapolis Police.
The Metro Transit 23 bus returned to George Floyd Square a few weeks ago joining the cars that returned almost 3 years ago. The area was primarily pedestrian only for about a year following Floyd’s Chicago Ave murder.
