Minneapolis Police at Hennepin Ave and Lake St Protest Zone

This image was taken in the days following the June 3rd killing of Winston Smith and the June 13th killing of Deona Marie. Smith was killed by officers from the Hennepin and Ramsey County Sheriff's Offices while they were part of a Federal Task Force serving a warrant. Marie was killed when Nicholas Kraus drove his vehicle into a crowd protesting Smith's death. The area was a focal point for protests and unrest in the summer of 2021.
