A man sits on Nicollet Mall in Downtown Minneapolis, holding a sign for assistance, as Minneapolis Police officers and vehicles respond to unrest. This event occurred after false rumors of a police shooting led to rioting in the downtown area. Nicollet Mall, a prominent pedestrian and transit mall, has served as a central commercial and public space in Minneapolis since its initial development in the 1960s.
