George Floyd Square Bus Shelter, Minneapolis: Protest Slogans

This photograph shows the interior of a former Metro Transit bus shelter located at George Floyd Square, the intersection of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis. Following the murder of George Floyd in May 2020, this area transformed into a community-maintained protest site and memorial. The bus shelter, originally part of the public transit infrastructure, was repurposed by community members and artists as a canvas for expressing grief and demands for justice. Messages such as "Power," "No Justice No Peace," and "White Silence Is Violence," along with symbols like the raised fist, reflect the ongoing calls for racial justice that emerged from the Minneapolis protests.
