Former Sheraton Hotel, Minneapolis, Post-Uprising Shelter

The former Sheraton Hotel in Midtown Minneapolis, located near Lake Street, served as a temporary shelter. Following the May 25, 2020 murder of George Floyd, the hotel provided refuge for individuals experiencing homelessness during the period of civil unrest. This repurposing addressed an immediate need for housing and safety in the days after the protests and property damage in the city. The building's temporary function highlighted the role of community support and resource allocation during a period of significant social upheaval in Minneapolis.
