Potted Flowers at Burned Wong’s Restaurant, Chicago Ave, Minneapolis

Potted flowers are placed in front of the remains of Wong's Chinese Restaurant on Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis. The restaurant was extensively damaged by fire during the Minneapolis Uprising in late May and early June 2020, which occurred in the aftermath of George Floyd's murder. While the interior is reduced to charred debris, the presence of the flowers reflects a community effort to bring remembrance or a sense of renewal to the affected urban environment. The adjacent building, housing "Alterations Skin Care," also shows signs of impact with boarded windows.
