The skeletal remains of a commercial building stand on Chicago Avenue in South Minneapolis, adjacent to U-7 Nails. This structure, along with many others in the area, sustained severe damage during the civil unrest that followed the murder of George Floyd in May 2020. A partial sign indicates the burned building once operated as a business providing building materials or plumbing supplies to the community. The widespread destruction of local businesses along commercial corridors like Chicago Avenue profoundly affected residents and the economic vitality of the neighborhood. This site serves as a tangible marker of the protests and the ongoing process of recovery and rebuilding in Minneapolis.
