The "You Hold The Key" mural by artist Ballard adorns the boarded-up CVS Pharmacy on Lake Street in Uptown Minneapolis. Installed in 2020, this artwork was painted on protective boards covering the storefront during the widespread protests and civil unrest that followed the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Featuring a large heart with the word "PEACE" and a key with a peace symbol, the mural conveys a message of hope and empowerment, stating "You Hold The Key". Such murals became a prominent form of public art and expression across Minneapolis, transforming boarded-up businesses into canvases for community messages during a period of significant social change.
