Toppled George Washington Statue, Washburn Fair Oaks, Minneapolis

The bronze statue of George Washington lies toppled and vandalized with red and yellow paint in Washburn Fair Oaks, Minneapolis. Pulled down during protests associated with the Minneapolis Uprising, the monument also bears the message "LAND BACK!". This act of protest highlights ongoing discussions regarding historical figures commemorated in public spaces and their relevance to contemporary social justice movements. The statue, originally dedicated in 1897, was a gift from the Daughters of the American Revolution.
