George Floyd Square: “Please Take What You Need” Sign

A handwritten sign at George Floyd Square in Minneapolis reads, "Please take what u NEED, Dont be Greedy or Stealing. Everything is for Everybody. TAKE CARE of Each other." This message reflects the community's ethos of mutual aid and shared resources that emerged during the occupation of the square following the murder of George Floyd in May 2020. The area became a focal point for protests against racial injustice and police brutality. The sign, placed on what appears to be a gas pump, serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility and solidarity fostered within the community during this period of intense social and political upheaval.
