Former K-Mart Murals, West Lake Street, Minneapolis

Kmart covered in art boards in August 2020
The former K-Mart store on West Lake Street in Minneapolis displays extensive murals created in the aftermath of the 2020 protests. These artworks, some depicting portraits and messages related to the Minneapolis Uprising, transformed the building's exterior into a public canvas. The retail store has since been repurposed as a United States Post Office, providing essential services after two local post offices were destroyed by fire during the protests. This site now functions as both a civic building and a significant historical marker of community expression.
