The Granada Theatre, a historic music venue in Uptown Minneapolis, displays messages of "Justice 4 George Floyd" and "Uptown Love" on its marquee. The building's windows are covered with painted boards, a common protective measure for businesses during the widespread protests and civil unrest that followed George Floyd's murder in May 2020. These boards feature "Black Lives Matter" graffiti and vibrant floral designs, transforming the theater's facade into a public expression of community sentiment. Originally built in 1928 as a movie palace, the Granada Theatre's prominent location on Hennepin Avenue made it a visible site for public messaging during a period of significant historical change in the city.
