Comedy Show at Speedway, The People’s Way, George Floyd Square

Local comics perform a comedy show at the Speedway gas station within George Floyd Square in Minneapolis. Following the killing of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, the area around 38th Street and Chicago Avenue transformed into a memorial and community gathering space, known locally as 'The People's Way'. Throughout the summer, this site served as a focal point for community engagement, remembrance, and various public events. The repurposed gas station, adorned with protest art and messages, became an informal venue for cultural activities, reflecting the square's role as a hub for expression and solidarity.
