National Guard and Barricades at Minneapolis Police 1st Precinct
National Guard personnel and extensive barricades secured the area around the Minneapolis Police First Precinct in Downtown Minneapolis. These security measures were implemented during the civil unrest that followed the death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020. The barriers, consisting of concrete blocks and metal fencing, were erected to protect the police station and manage public access during a period of widespread protests. The deployment of the National Guard aimed to support local law enforcement and maintain order amidst the significant public outcry. The Minneapolis Police First Precinct, a key operational hub in Downtown Minneapolis, became a focal point during this historically significant period.
