Iglesia y Convento de la Compañía de Jesús, Antigua Guatemala Ruins

Iglesia y Convento de la Compania de Jesus Antigua Guatemala
The ruins of the Church and Convent of the Society of Jesus in Antigua Guatemala stand as a testament to the city's colonial past. Constructed between 1690 and 1698, this religious complex occupied a significant block near the Cathedral of Saint James. It once housed a church, three monastery wings, and the San Lucas School, serving up to 13 Jesuit priests along with brothers and students. The complex was abandoned in 1767 following the expulsion of the Jesuits from Spanish colonies, leaving behind these evocative ruins.
