Hollywood Theater

A Streamline Moderne landmark in Northeast Minneapolis, vacant since 1987.

Opened in 1935, the Hollywood Theater in Northeast Minneapolis is a rare example of Streamline Moderne architecture and is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. The building, recognized for its distinctive design, closed in 1987 as changing entertainment trends and competition from video stores and multiplexes led to declining audiences. After standing vacant for decades, the property was sold to a developer in 2015, with plans for renovation and renewed use.
