Hennepin County Sheriff and Minneapolis Police on Lake Street

Hennepin County Sheriff's Department and Minneapolis Police officers were deployed on Lake Street in Minneapolis on the night of September 2, 2021. They responded to protests that had been occurring for several days. These demonstrations followed the law enforcement shooting death of Winston Smith earlier that week at the Seven Points parking ramp. The presence of law enforcement, including bicycle patrols, aimed to manage the public gatherings and maintain order in the Uptown Minneapolis area.
