The Target store at Nicollet Mall and 9th Street South in downtown Minneapolis is boarded up during the early morning hours of May 29, 2020. Plywood covers the ground-level windows and entrances of the large retail location, a protective measure taken as unrest spread across the city after the murder of George Floyd. The closure of this prominent downtown store marked the disruption reaching Minneapolis's main commercial district.
