“Abolish The Police” Mural, Hook and Ladder, Minneapolis
A mural reading "ABOLISH THE POLICE" covers the boarded-up windows of the Hook and Ladder Theater & Lounge on Minnehaha Avenue in Minneapolis. This artwork emerged during the 2020 Minneapolis Uprising, following the murder of George Floyd, when many businesses boarded their windows and became canvases for protest art. People gathered outside the venue on Minnehaha Avenue in November 2020, shortly after the United States Presidential election results were announced. The gathering reflects ongoing public discourse and protest movements concerning policing and social justice in Minneapolis and across the nation.
