Protesting Elon Musk and the Trump Administration

50 Protests, 50 States, One Day (50501) protests started being organized on r/50501 and held it’s first protest on February 5, 2025. The protesters are standing up against the actions of Elon Musk and the Trump Administration and have been growing in size ever since. In the Twin Cities, these have mostly taken place at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul.

The “Hands Off!” protest held on April 5, 2025 is likely the largest protest in St. Paul since the 2017 Women’s March at the State Capitol with the Minnesota State Patrol saying they estimate the crowd to be around 25,000.

“No Kings!” was held on June 14, 2025 hours after Minnesota lawmakers Melissa Hortman and John Hoffman were shot along with their spouses in their homes. Melissa Hortman and her husband died. At the time of the protest, Minnesota law enforcement officials were asking people not to attend the protest because the shooter was still at large. The Minnesota State Patrol shared a photo of paper reading “No Kings” sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle he was driving.
