Stuffed Owl with Note for Gianna, George Floyd Square

A stuffed owl with a handwritten note to Gianna Floyd sits among candles, flowers, and other memorial items at George Floyd Square in Minneapolis. The memorial is located at 38th Street and Chicago Avenue, where public tributes accumulated after George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police on May 25, 2020. The note asks Gianna, Floyd’s daughter, to hug the toy when she misses her father, placing a personal message of grief within the larger memorial at the site.
