AutoZone building lot cleared
The AutoZone sign stands over a cleared lot at the intersection of East Lake Street and Minnehaha Avenue in Minneapolis. This site was formerly home to the AutoZone store, which was the first building to burn during the civil unrest that followed the May 25, 2020 death of George Floyd. The cleared ground marks a significant location in the events that unfolded across the city, particularly near the Minneapolis Police 3rd Precinct. The remaining sign serves as a stark reminder of the widespread damage and subsequent rebuilding efforts in the area.
