Minneapolis: COVID-19 notice on disabled crosswalk button

Pushing button is not required during covid
In Minneapolis, a "push button to cross" sign on a pedestrian signal is overlaid with a notice informing the public that "pushing button is not required" due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This measure was implemented in late April 2020 when the city disabled 450 walk buttons to reduce potential transmission of the virus. The sign directs pedestrians to wait for the walk signal to turn on automatically, reflecting public health protocols enacted during the early stages of the global health crisis.
