“We’re Trying to End One” Billboard in Minneapolis’s North Loop

The billboard stands above a Clear Channel advertising space in the North Loop, on a brick warehouse building along Washington Avenue North. It displays a tweet from writer Frederick Joseph, posted June 5, 2020, reading: "Protestors aren't trying to start a race war — we're trying to end one." The message appeared during the weeks of demonstrations that followed the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police in May 2020. Clear Channel Outdoor operates numerous digital and static billboards throughout the Twin Cities, and this one sat above Runyon's, a longtime bar and restaurant on the same block.
