Pre-trial hearing and efforts to block a new third precinct.
Boards went back up in downtown Minneapolis in September preparing for a pre-trial hearing of the 4 officers charged in the murder of George Floyd. The September 11th, 2020 court date at the Hennepin County Family Justice Center was the first time the public saw Derek Chauvin since his May 29th arrest. It would be the last time he was seen in public until his trial.
In mid September a protest was held at a potential site of a new replacement Minneapolis police third precinct. Just prior to the “Block party to block the precinct” rally, the city announced they have decided not to go forward with the location. This came after the property was vandalized and rumors of potential protests outside the property owners home in the suburbs.
