George Floyd Memorial at Cup Foods, Minneapolis, August 2020

The George Floyd Memorial stands at the intersection of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue South in Minneapolis, outside Cup Foods, in August 2020. This site became a spontaneous memorial and protest hub following George Floyd's murder by police on May 25, 2020. The memorial, featuring a large mural and numerous tributes, commemorates Floyd's life and the global movement for racial justice and police accountability that his death ignited. Known as George Floyd Square, the area remains a significant gathering place for remembrance and ongoing advocacy against systemic racism.
