Winston Smith Protest Site Memorial Garden, Uptown Minneapolis

A memorial garden is being constructed by protesters at the site where Winston Smith was killed in Uptown Minneapolis. Smith died on June 3, 2020, when officers from a Federal Task Force fired their weapons while serving a warrant. Deona Marie was killed on June 13, 2020, when Nicholas Kraus drove his vehicle into protesters gathered in response to Smith's death. The garden serves as a tribute to both victims and a continued site of protest.
