Capella Tower in Fog, Downtown Minneapolis

Capella Tower rises 776 feet above downtown Minneapolis, making it the city's second-tallest building after the IDS Center. Completed in 1992 and designed by César Pelli, the tower is best known for the crown-like open arch near its top, an architectural feature added specifically to give the building a distinct silhouette on the skyline. It was originally built as the headquarters for Multifoods and later took its current name from Capella Education Company, a longtime tenant. The building sits along the Nicollet Mall skyway system, the network of enclosed pedestrian bridges that connects most of downtown Minneapolis's office towers.
