Path to La Paz in San Marcos La Laguna, Guatemala

San Marcos La Laguna sits on the northern shore of Lake Atitlán, a town that shifted from a farming and fishing economy toward wellness tourism and yoga retreats starting in the early 2000s. A hand-painted sign reading "La Paz" points visitors toward one of the small guesthouses and meditation centers that now line the village's footpaths. Many of these routes were never built for vehicles; they follow old field boundaries and water channels, which is why narrow stone-edged walkways like this remain the main way to move through the community.
