A Vine-Covered Stone House Above Santa Cruz La Laguna

Santa Cruz La Laguna is a Kaqchikel Maya village on the northern shore of Lake Atitlán, reachable mainly by boat since no road links it to the lake's other shoreline towns. Over the decades the area has drawn farmers, missionaries, and small tourism ventures, and as newer guesthouses rose closer to the water, older hillside structures like this one were left to stand empty.
