Yurikamome Platform, Shiodome Station, Tokyo

Shiodome Station serves as an elevated stop on the Yurikamome, the automated guideway transit line that links Shimbashi to the waterfront district of Odaiba. Opened in 1995 and fully driverless, the Yurikamome runs on rubber tires along an elevated guideway rather than steel rails, allowing tight curves as it winds between the high-rises of the Shiodome redevelopment area. Platform screen doors run the length of the station, a standard feature on the line since its automated trains have no onboard conductor to monitor boarding. The station takes its name from the Shiodome district, once the site of Japan's first railway freight terminal before its transformation into a business and media hub.
