This unit was deployed on March 16th, 2021, a period marked by heightened security concerns following the Minneapolis Uprising. Such mobile surveillance systems are often used to monitor large public areas, including retail parking lots, to deter crime and enhance safety. Their deployment can be a response to specific events or ongoing security needs in urban environments.

Ava Security, a Redwood City-based company, makes networked dome cameras designed for real-time video analytics rather than simple recording. Its systems pair camera hardware with cloud software that can flag specific events—loitering, tailgating at entry points, or unusual crowd movement—for use by city governments, transit agencies, and private security operations.
