Capella Tower and Wells Fargo Center, Downtown Minneapolis

Capella Tower rises 776 feet at 225 South Sixth Street, making it one of the tallest buildings in Minneapolis; designed by César Pelli and completed in 1992, it was originally known as Wells Fargo Center before taking its current name in 2010. Its crown, a ring of lights near the top, changes color for holidays and special occasions. Nearby, the Wells Fargo Center at 90 South Seventh Street — also designed by Pelli and completed in 1988 as Norwest Center — is nicknamed the "cash register building" for its tiered, stepped roofline. Both towers anchor the financial core of downtown Minneapolis, within blocks of the IDS Center and Nicollet Mall.
