Abortion Rights March Down Downtown Minneapolis Street

Demonstrators marched through downtown Minneapolis on June 24, 2022, the day the Supreme Court issued its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that had established a constitutional right to abortion. The decision returned regulatory authority over abortion to individual states. Minnesota's state constitution, as interpreted in the 1995 case Doe v. Gomez, continues to protect abortion access independent of federal precedent. Groups identifying with Students for a Democratic Society were among those present, carrying hand-painted banners through the city's downtown corridor.
