Lake Street Fire Debris, Minneapolis

Debris and small smoldering fires block Lake Street in Minneapolis on the morning of May 30, 2020, with boarded storefronts and damaged buildings lining the corridor. The photograph shows the aftermath of unrest that followed the killing of George Floyd, when businesses and streets along this major South Minneapolis commercial route sustained extensive fire and impact damage. Smoke rises from burned material in the roadway as the street remains largely empty at daybreak.
