The boarded entrance of The General Store Dad on Hennepin Avenue in Uptown Minneapolis is shown on June 7, 2020. Plywood panels cover the storefront doors and windows, with handwritten text identifying the business as “a community work space” and stating, “Nothing left to steal except some La Croix,” followed by an offer to call for a drink. The protective boarding was installed after protests and unrest in Minneapolis following the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police in May 2020.
