Nicollet Mall Boarded Retail Stores and Cyclists

Bikers going past boarded up buildings on Nicollet Mall
Boarded retail storefronts line Nicollet Mall in Downtown Minneapolis, a prominent pedestrian and transit corridor. These protective measures were implemented by businesses in response to the widespread protests and civil unrest that occurred in Minneapolis following the murder of George Floyd in May 2020. Nicollet Mall, originally established in 1967 and later redesigned, serves as a vital commercial and public space, connecting various downtown attractions. Despite the visible precautions, cyclists and pedestrians continue to utilize the mall, reflecting ongoing daily activity within the urban core.
