The former K-Mart building in Minneapolis, located near Lake Street, now functions as a temporary United States Post Office facility. This site was repurposed following damage to the permanent Lake Street and Minnehaha post office branches during the May 2020 protests in Minneapolis. The large parking lot, once serving retail customers, is currently utilized for staging and dispatching USPS delivery vehicles, ensuring continued mail service for the community. This temporary operation highlights the adaptability of urban infrastructure in providing essential services during periods of recovery and rebuilding.
