Midtown Transit Center with boards on windows
The Midtown Transit Center at Chicago Avenue and Lake Street in Minneapolis is shown boarded up on July 16, 2020. This facility serves as a key public transportation hub, connecting multiple bus routes in the city. The boarding of the transit center and surrounding retail stores occurred in the aftermath of the civil unrest that followed the murder of George Floyd in May 2020. Many businesses and public structures across Minneapolis were secured with boards during this period, reflecting widespread efforts to protect properties.
