Lake Street Market, 201 W. Lake, Minneapolis: Boards Removed
Lake Street Market, a neighborhood grocery store at 201 W. Lake Street in Minneapolis, recently had its protective window boards removed. The store's windows were initially boarded up in 2020 following protests related to George Floyd, and later displayed tributes to Daunte Wright after his killing by police in April 2021. This marks the first time the market's interior has been visible from the street in several years, reflecting a shift in the commercial corridor. The market continues to serve the community along Lake Street, a vital commercial and cultural artery in South Minneapolis.
