Amish families across Wisconsin rely on horse-drawn buggies for daily transportation, a practice rooted in their rejection of automobiles and modern conveniences tied to worldly influence. The buggies, typically built by local Amish craftsmen, are designed for practical use—hauling feed, supplies, and family members between farms and town. Livestock feed sacks, like the ones often loaded onto flatbed buggies, are a common sight on rural roads near Amish settlements, where farming remains the primary livelihood. Wisconsin is home to one of the largest Amish populations in the United States, with communities concentrated in counties such as Vernon, Monroe, and Wausau.
