Inside the abandoned Filer & Stowell Factory in Milwaukee.
The Filer & Stowell Company trace its roots to a Milwaukee, Wisconsin firm established in the 1870s, built on the earlier ironworks of Albert Filer and William Stowell. The company became a major manufacturer of sawmill machinery, steam engines, and later hydraulic elevators and industrial equipment, shipping products across the country from its Milwaukee works. Its factory buildings housed both production floors and administrative offices to manage the firm's manufacturing and sales operations.
