Bob Dylan Mural, Downtown Minneapolis

Bob Dylan wrote "The Times They Are A-Changin'" in 1963, and it became one of his most quoted lyrics, later inspiring murals and public art referencing the singer's Minnesota roots. Dylan was born Robert Zimmerman in Duluth and grew up in Hibbing before moving to Minneapolis in 1959 to attend the University of Minnesota, where he began performing folk music in the Dinkytown neighborhood. Minneapolis has since claimed him as a native son, marking sites tied to his early career and commissioning artwork that quotes his lyrics throughout downtown and beyond.
