Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey holds a press briefing on the shooting from earlier in the day. He talked about “how heroic” officers were in their response, saying “but for their heroic work, the death toll would have been far higher”. Interim Minneapolis Police Chief Bill Peterson read from a prepared statement before taking a couple questions. It’s still unknown how the shooter died, earlier in the day the police department said it wasn’t known how he died. The shooter, who’s been identified in reports as Carlton Neal Johnson II, had reportedly been fighting eviction proceedings and has shown a history of violent threats with a gun. Minneapolis Community Safety Commissioner Barnette and Hennepin Sheriff Witt did not speak.
