George Floyd Square 8:46 Minute Lay-In Protest, August 2020

Protesters participate in an 8-minute and 46-second 'lay-in' at George Floyd Square in Minneapolis during August 2020. This protest action symbolizes the duration a Minneapolis Police officer knelt on George Floyd's neck, resulting in his death. George Floyd Square, situated at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and East 38th Street, transformed into a memorial and community space following Floyd's murder in May 2020. The square continues to function as a site for remembrance, community gathering, and ongoing advocacy for racial justice and police accountability.
