Minneapolis: Protesters face National Guard during Chauvin trial

During the trial of former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin, protesters gathered outside the Hennepin County Government Center. The trial, which began in March 2021, concerned the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020. The presence of the National Guard and barricades indicated the heightened security measures in place due to the potential for civil unrest, a concern amplified by the ongoing protests and the Minneapolis Uprising that followed Floyd's death.
